Hi, I’m Staci. A.K.A. Mother Duck…
The “& Co” part of the brand named me that back when she was like five and it just kind of stuck. She’s now our resident artist & baker, so I’m sure you’ll see more creative names as we find our way in this artisan space. I couldn’t have asked for a better business partner though. She keeps me on my toes, pushes me to use my imagination, and is always encouraging me to face my fears. I’ve said for years that I want to be her when I grow up, but I don’t think I’ll ever come close to the amazingness she exudes quite effortlessly.
This isn’t my first rodeo when it comes to entrepreneurship. I’ve done photography, personal training, graphic design, coaching, and even some writing (and publishing). But opening a used-book store has always been a dream of mine. I chose to begin on a micro-scale with vendor shows and pop-ups, because it gives me a chance to grow from the bottom up, as she grows through middle and high school. It allows for space to see what works, what we like (or don’t), and develop into what we eventually want the brand to be.
